How to Blog Day 9 – Participate in Forums
In continuation of my review for 31 Days To Build A Better Blog, day 9′s instructions are to participate in forums.Very prolific indeed. Not.
I really dislike many forums. They must be well-moderated and most forums can’t afford the moderation. The best forums have an entrance fee, but who wants to pay for a membership? I will have to really work at this one to find an acceptable forum.
The one good tip I did pick up on was to look for the questions that really bug the forum moderators. You can take those constantly asked questions that are frequently asked and make a website or post addressing the issue. Forums do everything they can to stop these questions from recurring. They put them at the top of the forum, they make additional posts on their own websites, and they tell people to search, yet they are still pestered. If all of that doesn’t stop it, I don’t know what good another post for information will do to help, but it does show that there is a need to answer the question, therefore, possible traffic.
If you’re in the forum for promotion purposes, probably not a good idea to rip on the annoying people. Just speed read the posts until you find something you can be helpful on. That’s probably the take-away from this that the book does spend a little time on.
