How to Blog Day 23. Call Your Readers to Action
Day 23 of the 31 Days To Build A Better Blog book tells us to call your readers to action.
Many, myself included, bloggers simply write and do not tell the readers to do anything. It contributes to a boring post and a sluggish group of readers. There has to be something to trigger the person to take action. For example, if you write about a political problem, don’t just leave it at that. Tell them to write their congressman and give them the link with the information that tells them how to do it. If you want to know their opinion, ask them to write a comment. If you want them to buy a product, tell them to do it. The list of actions and how to get readers to take them is well detailed in this chapter.
This chapter alone will probably make some changes in my blogs. I’ve taken back everything I’ve said that was negative. So simple, but yet I when I look at my posts, I have an obvious problem with passivity. What good is all of the benefits of Web 2.0 and interactivity if you don’t ask people to use it.
