Day 13 – Go to the Mall
In continuation of my review for 31 Days To Build A Better Blog, day 13 tells us to go to the mall. The idea is to observe what’s going on there. In Newark, Ohio, the mall is going out of business, so maybe not the best place to get any ideas from.
On a side note, it’s only at this chapter did I find notice that there is a forum for the Problogger book. Maybe I missed it earlier?
I’ll just take the writers word for his observations about mall retail practices. I did take notice on my last trip to Wal-Mart that they had redesigned the store in a way to make it look like that had more than they did. They had recently renovated the store and removed a few departments. The photo developing and crafts departments were removed. This told me two things. Most photo developing is being done online, so there is an active online(although saturated) market there. Arts and crafts had been removed, so that is possibly another market. If just one trip to Wal-Mart showed this much, the author probably has a valid point.
