How To Build A Welded Wire Fence - Install Wire Mesh Fence FabricSubmitted by mark on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 04:46. |
This step was the most difficult to find instructions for. I could not find exact instructions from any fence material company website or mega-home-stuff store employee. Many folks thought that it needed to be stretched like chain link fence. Once I started working with the material, I soon found that stretching was not a necessity.
Before stapling the fence, you may want to increase the stapling area by adding a vertical 2x4 to the posts to add to the area that you can staple to. I found that just adding the 2x4 to the first and last post of every 50 foot length of fence was enough.

To start installing the wire mesh fabric, unroll a few feet and center the roll on the rails. I used a 2x4 on the ground to prop the roll up for easy unrolling.
You will need an assistant. One person to unroll the fence and one to staple to the rails. While unrolling, keep steady pressure on the fence to avoid slack. As you staple, keep tugging on the fence to reduce slack. Make sure you continue to keep the fence centered on the rails.

Once you reach the end of the roll staple to the closest pole. If you measured out and 8 foot centers, you will cover 48 feet with a 2 foot piece of waste. You could keep runing the entire length without the waste, but I found that stapling vertically to the post at the start and end of the roll provided a stronger fence.
