I made it home from trucking last night with a little bit of luck. Everything went wrong Thursday to cause me to be late getting home.

I came across Illinois and Indiana Friday and the only problem was a serious headwind. I had a light load, but still could only manage 55 mph. The truck was sucking down alot of fuel to keep that pace.

I tried to get to the Ohio DOT road condition page, but it was useless. They make a fancy page with all sorts of graphics and interactivity, but don’t provide the bandwith to support it when we need it the most. Why not just post what roads are having problems? That’s all I needed to know. Taxpayer dollars wasted on poor design.

The radio proved to be useless as every weather event is an emergency, so you never know when to care about what they say.

With all of the information available today, you still can’t get a decent weather report. You just keep trucking and hope you’re making the right choices. The worst that you want to happen is to be stuck at a good truckstop and and not in a ditch.
