Plan Aims to Abate Sharon Valley Traffic
Plan aims to abate Sharon Valley traffic – NEWARK — Buses leaving Liberty Middle and Legend Elementary schools Monday couldn’t turn left from Evans Boulevard onto Sharon Valley Road. Instead, they turned right and used the North Newark Little League complex as a turnaround. [The Newark Advocate]
Looks like the Newark City schools and the city got so excited about fleecing all of us with these unnecessary schools that they forgot that we had to get the kids to the school. No thoughts about traffic or safety, even after countless citizens addressed concerns before they were built.
Oh yeah, they “forgot” that we need to maintain the new school and some upkeep is still needed for the old schools, so the begging for levy money again will come again soon. Just a few dollars more a month, right? Just another “re-assessment” on our house values to get more taxes, right?
Dropping Off ArcelorMittal Steel in East Chicago, In
Check out the heat pouring from the tops of these cauldrons. Thes things were pretty intense. I had to park right next to them to unload. It was very hot just being around these things. I was waiting for the tarps or me to just start melting. Interesting stuff to see though.
So it’s Friday and I’m in Chicago with no load. I had one, but it cancelled. That’s broker terminology for “we found someone to haul it cheaper”. If you’re stuck in Chicago on a Friday with no load, that means getting back to Ohio isn’t going to happen until late.
I’m tiring of getting in so late and leaving so early on the weekend. Really tired. But, I’ve gotta make the money. The most commonly asked question, “Do I get paid to wait?”. Of course not.
I do take comfort that I don’t have to work at a steel mill. Some of these places are like hell. The heat, noise, dangerous situations, etc. are pretty insanse. You always hear that steel mill workers make good money. Well, there’s a good reason. It would take some getting used to at the least.
Sharpton’s Baggage: Nearly $1.5M in Unpaid Taxes
photo credit: cyvancefordaSharpton’s Baggage: Nearly $1.5M in Unpaid Taxes – Government records obtained by The Associated Press indicate that civil rights leader Al Sharpton and his business entities owe nearly $1.5 million in overdue taxes and associated penalties [Fox News Headlines]
Why do these people who demand that everyone pays higher taxes to support their special groups never pay their own taxes? Why don’t their followers see what the hypocrisy that they have fallen into? Not only does Al Sharpton not pay taxes, he is very wealthy! He is a member of the group that he wants to pay more taxes!
I suppose he claims that the taxes are unfair and racist.
Yes, the right has hypocrisy too. Bush spends our money like a drunken sailor and claims to be conservative for example, but most conservatives are the first to point this out. You never hear the libs make mention of his hypocratic foolishness.
Will we ever have a politician that has principles, sticks to them, and follows the Constitution?
Suicide Notes of Deborah Jean Palfrey Released
Suicide Notes of Deborah Jean Palfrey Released – “D.C. Madam” Deborah Jean Palfrey wrote suicide notes to her mother and sister explaining that she hanged herself because she couldn’t bear the thought of a future in prison. [Fox News Headlines]
This makes no sense. Anybody involved in something like this always does a short time in prison, then proceeds to get wealthy beyond their wildest dreams with books, movies, etc. about their memoirs. If the notes had stated she was ashamed for what she had done, that would make sense, but just being scared of being broke?
I could be wrong and I don’t have sympathy for her. She played with fire and got burnt. Plus, she got very wealthy with misdeeds. This will go down in history as another mysterious suicide connected to politics.
Retailers Using Rebate as Bait
FOXBusiness: Retailers Using Rebate as Bait – [Fox News Headlines]
Wow, what a scam.
Everyone needs this “rebate” to pay bills and everyone from the general media, the government, to the retailers are out to make you spend it on frivilous endeavors. Don’t do it! Pay off or pay down a bill.

So the American government hands back money that they basically stole from us to begin with, then the majority of folks are going to rush out and buy more crap made in China. Wouldn’t it be great if the majority of us just put the money on debt!
As soon as that money hits my account, I’m cutting a check to a debt.
Need a Lift?
I spent some time this week delivering trusses. I still hate them. To much work for not enough pay. The width of them scares me too. I’m not afraid to admit it. If I can’t see all of a load in a mirror, it worries me.
Today I got a relatively easy load. A 35,000 pound lift. I suppose some would call it a crane, but since it doesn’t operate with a cable, technically it’s a lift.
If you look in the picture, there is a dock door there. They drove it out of that little door and onto the trailer. It was a very tight fit. The tires were off of the dock plate they were so wide. It was easy to chain down and go with though. The only problem was that all 35,000 pounds sat directly over the drive tires. I was within 300 pounds of being overweight. A little more fuel in the tanks and I would have had to get creative. Getting creative always takes time, risks, and money.
I delivered it safely to Pittsburgh. Easy money.
Here are some more trucking pictures for the truck fans.
Electric Lawnmowers
The old gas mower we use for trim work broke. It got old and the deck rusted to the point that it flexed enough for the blade to hit it.
This is boring stuff unless you’ve been curious about these rechargeable mowers, so feel free to pass this over if you start to feel sleepy.
I found a Homelite rechargeable electric mower for about $350 at Home Depot. It has a metal deck where the other brands have a plastic deck. It lasted long enough to do quite a bit of work in tall grass on my 1/2 acre lot. It took 15 hours for the initial charge, so if you let the charge deplete, it’s going to be a while to get going again. The Homelite weights 87 pounds, so it’s not lighter than a gas mower. I am looking forwared to no gas, oil, filters, spark plugs, etc.
My Dad bought the Remington rechargeable electric mower and he’s happy with it. It’s advantages are that it’s lighter and can run on the cord or the battery. However, it only has a 17 inch cut where the Homelite has a 20 inch cut.
The real test for these mowers will be the test of time. Considering there is no cost for gas or maintenance I’ll be happy to get 3 years out of mine.
Old Trucks Can Still Make Money
I seen this old truck at a truckstop and I couldn’t believe it was still out making money. It’s really cool to see that someone has the talent and ambition to keep one this old going. I couldn’t even make out what type of truck it is. I would guess by the hood emblem that it’s a Peterbuilt, but I’m not sure. It’s before my time.
I had to wonder why they haven’t done a restore to make it look really good. It’s an eye-catcher just the way it is, but check out the window screens on the radiator. I would guess that the parts on it are just the originals that have been cared for.
Man Accused of Leaving Kids Home Alone
Man accused of leaving kids home alone – NEWARK — A 38-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after leaving his two young children alone at home with the door open, according to a Newark police report. [The Newark Advocate]
Another bad parenting award contender. Wow, how hard is it to throw the kids in the car to go get your smokes?
If you leave young kids at the house and your car breaks down, shouldn’t you call the friend to get the kids first? Well, not if not taking care of your kids is a regular habit. This guy was convicted before as so many people have posted on the news website shows.
Now the kids are going to foster care where people can even care less for them AND get a nice paycheck for not caring. Some system we have going here.
First step should be to make the father pay the foster care bill. Plain and simple. You have kids, you pay to raise them.
