Electric Lawnmowers
The old gas mower we use for trim work broke. It got old and the deck rusted to the point that it flexed enough for the blade to hit it.
This is boring stuff unless you’ve been curious about these rechargeable mowers, so feel free to pass this over if you start to feel sleepy.
I found a Homelite rechargeable electric mower for about $350 at Home Depot. It has a metal deck where the other brands have a plastic deck. It lasted long enough to do quite a bit of work in tall grass on my 1/2 acre lot. It took 15 hours for the initial charge, so if you let the charge deplete, it’s going to be a while to get going again. The Homelite weights 87 pounds, so it’s not lighter than a gas mower. I am looking forwared to no gas, oil, filters, spark plugs, etc.
My Dad bought the Remington rechargeable electric mower and he’s happy with it. It’s advantages are that it’s lighter and can run on the cord or the battery. However, it only has a 17 inch cut where the Homelite has a 20 inch cut.
The real test for these mowers will be the test of time. Considering there is no cost for gas or maintenance I’ll be happy to get 3 years out of mine.
Old Trucks Can Still Make Money
I seen this old truck at a truckstop and I couldn’t believe it was still out making money. It’s really cool to see that someone has the talent and ambition to keep one this old going. I couldn’t even make out what type of truck it is. I would guess by the hood emblem that it’s a Peterbuilt, but I’m not sure. It’s before my time.
I had to wonder why they haven’t done a restore to make it look really good. It’s an eye-catcher just the way it is, but check out the window screens on the radiator. I would guess that the parts on it are just the originals that have been cared for.
Man Accused of Leaving Kids Home Alone
Man accused of leaving kids home alone – NEWARK — A 38-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after leaving his two young children alone at home with the door open, according to a Newark police report. [The Newark Advocate]
Another bad parenting award contender. Wow, how hard is it to throw the kids in the car to go get your smokes?
If you leave young kids at the house and your car breaks down, shouldn’t you call the friend to get the kids first? Well, not if not taking care of your kids is a regular habit. This guy was convicted before as so many people have posted on the news website shows.
Now the kids are going to foster care where people can even care less for them AND get a nice paycheck for not caring. Some system we have going here.
First step should be to make the father pay the foster care bill. Plain and simple. You have kids, you pay to raise them.
Health Board Dismisses Smoking Violation Fine
Health board dismisses smoking violation fine – MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Board of Health held its monthly meeting on Wednesday evening. Some major items on the agenda were an administrative review of a fine due to violation of the smoking ban, solid waste nuisances

and two residences possibly unfit for human habitation. [Mount Vernon News]
There you go, the health Nazis are at it again. The smelled smoke, so an establishment is supposed to be guilty. Granted it was overturned, but what a hassle. How could anyone serve on a board that accepts a law was setup to fine people without any evidence of breaking a law? How is a barowner supposed to enforce the law? They don’t have the power to remove someone from the premises for refusing to obey the law. They would risk a lawsuit if they forcibly removed them, especially if the person claimed injury from the removal.
It’s easy to say smoking shouldn’t be allowed, but why do we need a law? If you don’t smoke, they’re coming for you next. Why I never liked having donuts in the office. They made me fat and they’re bad for you. I think we need a law for that and I had better not smell donuts or see crumbs laying around either!
Fellow Flyers Duct-Tape Disorderly Drunk to His Seat
Fellow Flyers Duct-Tape Disorderly Drunk to His Seat – A drunk passenger on an Los Angeles-bound jetliner was duct taped to his seat by fellow flyers and later arrested after the FBI said he drunkenly attacked a flight attendant. [Fox News Headlines]
That is to cool. Another use of duct tape. Red Green has got to proud and I would bet a fan of PBS’s popular show was on the airliner.
I wish we could do this in all sorts of situations. Since I’ve been out trucking, I’ve noticed folks just do not know how to act right in social situations. I don’t know if they just weren’t held enough as children or if the Prozac and Starbucks cocktails they take do it to them. I’m not trying about truckers so much as the general public I run into. I would love to duct tape undesireables that come into the truck stops from the Greyhound Bus! Duct taping would be suitable punishment for all sorts of travelers that feel that their need to ditch the cashier lines and other social ignorance, stupidity, and selfishness. Nobody gets hurt and they will get free whenever somebody decides to show the twits some kindness.
Night Photo of an Old Peterbuilt – 4 Second Exposure
I need practice, but my new camera can do the night phots well. This was a 4 second exposure, resting on the hood of the truck. With my tripod and a timed shutter release, I could have got this alot sharper.
I’ve always liked the challenge of night photography. It’s good to be back at it. The cheaper cameras I have can do it, but I really needed to be able to use the RAW format to get the effects I was after.
A Day Away From the Truck.
I finally got my chance to have a day off when it wasn’t raining. I took my motorcycle out to Dawes Arboretum near Newark, Ohio and enjoyed a walk. It’s a great place to go enjoy a nice day. I also got some much needed exercise. One thing for certain, a long overdue vacation may be needed. I enjoyed this to much.
This picture is from the Japanese garden. I’m still perfecting the settings on the new camera, but the quality is getting better.
Here are a more pictures of Dawes Arboretum and Licking County, Ohio.
Bike Path Foes, Reese Discuss Controversy
Bike path foes, Reese discuss controversy – HEATH — Opponents in the controversy about creating a bike trail along the route of the former Buckeye Central Scenic Railroad finally discussed the issue face-to-face Thursday. [The Newark Advocate]
This story is amazing to me. Basically, folks had a railroad running through their property and the deed clearly states that the land will revert back to their ownership should the tracks be removed. Seems pretty basic.
Then comes Mr. Reese with his pockets overflowing with money and no understanding that people can own property. You buy property, pay through the nose to maintain you’re little plot, and then this lawyer decided he’ll do what he pleases with it? There has to be something against harrassing people in this manner.
Bike paths are great things, but why do they have to follow abandoned railroads? If Reese wants a path, why can’t he work with the government to use public property? I would like to have easy access to a path from my home, many would, but that’s not the issue. It’s the owners land! What part of that doesn’t this stupid lawyer understand? How many years of law school do you need to understand property rights?
Eight-Year-Old Girl Divorces Husband
Eight-Year-Old Girl Divorces Husband – An eight-year-old Yemeni girl was granted a divorce from an arranged marriage that started when she was in just the second grade. [Fox News Headlines]

- Honey, I’m home!
Another fine Muslim marriage gone wrong. Can you believe these people claim this to be good legal, ethical, and religous arrangement. This is just child prostitution. Where is the U.N. when this nonsense is going on?
This is what Muslims want in the United States, Great Britain and France. This is what they want us to change our laws and customs to. All under the pretense of Muslim religion and Sharia Law. This is just a sample of what they do. If they do this to their children, what do you think they’ll do in regards to Christians and Jews. I say stop them now.
Here’s a sample of what Sharia law is all about. Do a search in Google for “Sharia law in U.S.” for more.
It’s well documented that Muslims want Sharia law to dictate in communities where they are prevalent inside the United States. It seems our customs and traditions don’t allow for wife-beating and child prostitution, and that doesn’t fit their “culture.
All you feel-good multi-culturalists, are you still feeling good about this one. You want to forget U.S. culture in favor of catering to every whackjob we can import, so here you go. Maybe you can move to the beautiful Detroit area to learn your new culture.
Whatever I post next is going to make anyone feel better than this post. I do believe that Americans should be taking advantage of the Internet as a forum to start the fight against these terrorists and there de-humanizing behaviors. They can beat our military of course, so they’re going to use our ACLU afflicted legal system.
